Written and Illustrated by Mary Ann Graziani

Filled to Capacity is a delightful story about the units of capacity characters and a party that they are planning. The entertaining characters are; Gallon Gail, the Quarts Cousins, the Pint Pals, the Crazy Cups, and the little Ounces. They have a problem when it is time to start the sleepover and all the units will not fit into Gallon Gail. Join Gallon Gail and the other units as they try to discover a way to solve the problem so that they can all fit into Gallon Gail for the sleepover party. This story will help children become familiar with measurable attributes of customary units of capacity measurement. (National Math Standard: NM-MEA.PK-2.1 and NM-MEA.3-5.1) Written by an Elementary School Teacher, this book is perfect for teaching elementary school-aged children this important math concept while entertaining them at the same time. A measurement chart and no-baking children’s recipe is provided at the end of the book.

Critique: Filled to Capacity
This book has all of the necessary elements: good characterization; interesting (and well-described) settings; and authentic-sounding dialogue.
This is an amazing manuscript. The characters are fabulous, as is the plot. I am impressed with the imagination, writing skills, and storytelling ability. The readers will truly love this material. This book will be a success because Mary Ann Graziani has a gift for writing.
